It is regrettable that Emily Hughes was forced to withdraw from the U. S. National Figure Skating Championships in St. Paul, Minnesota, January 2008 due to a hip injury. The injury may also put her out of consideration for the Four Continents Championships scheduled for February in Korea.
She will need to stay away from full training for at least 4-6 weeks. She will be missed at Nationals but will have more time for her studies at Harvard while she heals. Posted on 23 Jan 2008 by Laura
Skate Canada took place in Quebec. She earned almost 22 points more than at Skate America and was not penalized as much for under rotated jumps in Canada. Emily placed 2nd in the short program with 58.72 points, 33.80 for technical elements and 24.92 for program components.
In the free skate she placed 4th with 103.70 points, 52.74 technical and 50.96 program components for a final score of 162.42 to earn 4th place overall. Posted on 23 Jan 2008 by Laura
